Illustrations of the Storm
Copyrights Reserved© LeX Productions 2005

The blanket of sunshine

Energized by the fiery yellow orb

Dissipate ever so quickly

Into the pervading darkness of rainclouds

The trees, large and small

Shaken, pushed, tormented

By the wrath of the winds

Despite the forces of nature

Firm and stolid, they stay

The fleeting glances towards the sky

As people play with renewed urgency

The game is hardly finished

The heavens will wait

Illusions brutally crushed

As the skies open the floodgates

Unleashing raging torrents of raindrops

They hurtle towards the earth

With unbridled joy at newfound freedom

The hapless flapping of wings

The storm gives no chances

Home was in sight

Surrender not an option

The enthusiasm of the players

Doused like water hurled at a candle flame

They escape from the confines of shelter

In the nick of time

The rampant lightning flashes

Paint an invisible masterpiece

Only visible to the eyes of heaven above

Accompanied by the melody

Of the cascading raindrops

The immeasurable crystals

Fall relentlessly, constantly

Are they but tears of heaven

In immaculate disguise?
